Ditch the Chlorine: The Safer Bleach You Should be Using

When it comes to cleaning and stain removal, bleach is a household staple. Chlorine bleach has long been the go to for whitening and disinfecting, but it comes with serious downsides; corrosiveness, toxic fumes and environmental harm. But there's a safer, more versatile alternative you should know about; oxygen bleach.

What is Oxygen Bleach?

Oxygen bleach, also known as sodium percarbonate or green bleach is a compound made from sodium carbonate (washing soda) and hydrogen peroxide. When mixed with water, it releases oxygen, which acts as a natural stain lifting and deodorising agent.

Benefits of Oxygen Bleach

  • Non-toxic - unlike chlorine bleach, oxygen bleach is biodegradable and non-toxic to humans, pets and aquatic life once it enters waterways. There are no harmful fumes or damage to the skin and lungs
  • Colour safe - oxygen bleach targets stains not dye so it is safe for coloured fabrics
  • Gentle but powerful - it's tough on stains like coffee, blood and mold yet gentle on fabric and surfaces such as tiles, grout and sealed wood
  • Multi-purpose - it cleans, deodorises, whitens and sanitises all in one use
