Like many new businesses it all began with a problem that needed a solution. For me it began with growing eco-anxiety; a sense of powerlessness and overwhelming worry at the scale of the world’s problems such as climate change and plastic pollution. Like many new businesses it all began with a problem that needed a solution. For me it began with growing eco-anxiety; a sense of powerlessness and overwhelming worry at the scale of the world’s problems such as climate change and plastic pollution. What is the solution to this? Yes we can make lots of individual changes but this wasn’t enough for me and my anxiety. With three young children I spent a lot of time considering what needs to be done to ensure a better world for them. I really wanted to get out of my comfort zone and go beyond individual level change to enable my local community to also make better choices and live more sustainably. I’m sure there are plenty of you out there who share my values and this gives me hope! So our little business was born as a solution to my anxiety, my therapy if you will, and a small contribution to solving the world’s problems.

Although it is important, simply recycling plastic is not the solution. Most plastic is not recycled correctly and ends up in landfill or the ocean. It can only be recycled a few times before new plastic is needed. Closed loop systems that exclude single-use plastics are a far more sustainable way forward.

Obviously, there are a multitude of changes that need to be made in the world on a large scale to help heal and maintain our planet, but there are also small changes we can all make as individuals, at home and in our everyday lives . We all have a part to play in preserving our environment for us, our children and generations to come.
Our main aim at ArborFill, is to provide our local community with an option to reduce their plastic consumption, using our 'closed loop' glass bottle refill service.
